Daniel Rong will be performing with the Knox-Galesburg Symphony on Saturday, November 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Orpheum Theatre in Galesburg. Fourteen-year old Daniel began his musical studies at the age of six. In addition to his work as a pianist, Rong is a cellist in the Midwest Young Artists (MYA) Concert Orchestra. He also plays in several music groups including a piano trio, a string quartet, a string quintet, and is a member of his Woodlawn Middle School (Long Grove, IL) orchestra. He was the 2012 Junior Division winner of the MYA piano category. Rong received 2010 and 2011 honorable mention recognitions in the annual DePaul University Concerto Competition. As the first place winner of both youth and junior divisions, he has given performances in the prestigious annual MFHC winner's concerts held in Preston Bradley Hall at the Chicago Cultural Center. Rong was also a second place winner in the Society of American Musicians Competition and a finalist in the state level ISMTA Competition.
