As adults head out to celebrate New Year's Eve, they can take advantage of a free program that can help keep our streets safe. G & M Distributors, Shawn Mason State Farm Insurance, United American Cab, WGIL, FM95, 92.7 The LASER, and 105.3 KFM are sponsoring a community-based initiative that helps prevent drunk driving by providing safe cab rides home to adults who may have had too much to drink.
"We want all adults who choose to drink, regardless of the occasion, to act responsibly," said Adam Vitale, President of G & M Distributors. "That means if you include alcohol in your celebrations, please plan ahead and arrange to use alternate transportation or a designated driver to get home safely."
Thanks in part to programs and increased law enforcement, Anheuser-Busch and its wholesalers are making progress in the fight against drunk driving. The latest government data shows that drunk-driving fatalities have decreased 48 percent since 1982.
