G&M Distributors , Inc. Recommits to its Galesburg Headquarters

 G & M Distributors, Inc. will begin work on a building expansion in about four weeks, Adam Vitale, general manager, said.

The addition will include approximately 22,000 square feet of additional controlled environmental warehouse (CEW) space. The project will also involve renovating and repurposing its existing space, poising the company for future growth.

Upon completion of this project the company hopes to add two positions. "The addition of beer, wine, spirit, and non-alcoholic SKUs [shop keeping units] has dramatically increased over the past five years. Customers are demanding more choice than ever. Our addition and renovation will allow us to enhance and modernize storage. As our business needs change, we try to continually adapt our facility to meet those demands," Vitale said. "G&M was founded January 17, 1946 in Galesburg. This project renews our commitment to the community and the region. West central Illinois is a great place to do business, and we are proud of the communities we serve."

G&M strives to use local and regional contractors whenever possible. Galesburg based, Metzger-Johnson will be managing the project. P.J. Hoerr (Peoria) will be the general contractor. Mechanical Service, Incorporated (Galesburg) will be the lead subcontractor. The project will utilize workers from members of the Carpenters Local #237, Cement Masons Local #18, Electricians Local #34, Glaziers Local #581, Ironworkers Local #111, Operating Engineers Local #649, Painters Local #501 (Illinois), Plumbers & Pipefitters Local #25, Roofers Local #32, Sheet Metal Workers Local #91, Sprinkler Fitters Local #669. Additionally, G&M employs members of the Teamsters Local #627 to deliver and staff its warehouse.
