At G&M Distributors, Inc., we are committed to working with educators, parents, law enforcement and the entire community in addressing the problems of underage drinking and drunk driving. It is our responsibility to help keep our kids and roads safe. To that effort, on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, Sarah Panzau-Evans shared with students at Galva Junior/Senior High School the power of making good and bad decisions.
Somewhere between life as a competitively driven high school athlete and the early years of college, Sarah began heading down a destructive path. She found herself hanging out with the wrong crowd, getting more out of drugs and dangerous levels of alcohol than hitting the books and spiking a ball.
During her presentation, Sarah recounted for students the day her car – and her life – spun out of control. With a blood-alcohol level nearly four times the legal limit, the 21-year-old decided to drive home drunk, missed a highway exit, and rolled her car four times. Sarah delivered a presentation that poignantly describes the physical and emotional pain of a life that is forever changed because of the poor decisions she made.
By sharing her story, she hoped to impress upon students the importance of making the right choices – to not drink before they are 21, respect their parents, learn the meaning of "real" friends and rise above disabilities.
G&M Distributors, Inc. sponsored Living Proof as part of its continuing efforts to help students make smart, safe choices.
