Vintages & G&M are Hosting an Entwine Wine Tasting & Pairing Competition

Friday, November 11

5:30 to 7:30 PM

$5.00 per person

Entwine is the coming together of two extraordinary things. It's the coming together of perfectly balanced flavors. It's the coming together of food and wine. And it's the coming together of one of America's oldest wineries and the most trusted name in food: Wente Vineyards and Food Network. The line of entwine wines are now available in Galesburg thru G&M Distributors.

We will celebrate with a wine tasting, and in keeping with the feel of the Food Network, we will pair each in a culinary competition. Attendees are invited to cook up an appetizer (or small bite) to pair with the entwine line-up of varietals. You may enter one or more recipes.

The entwine website has developed recipes that pair well with each varietal. Choose one of these or create your own perfect pairing

The wine & food pairings will be judged by Julie and a panel of judges selected by her. We will declare a winner in each category and winners will receive a full set of the four entwine wines. This event is scheduled from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Friday, November 11. If bringing an entry, please bring it already prepared/cooked/ready-to-eat by 5:30. Please let Julie know if you plan on entering (and in what category) before Friday, November 11th. Free event for those entering the competition. Cost of the wine & appetizer tasting is $5.00 per person for everyone else.

Category I: Pinot Grigio — Crisp, refreshing and citrusy, like a green apple drizzled with lime juice & honey.

Category II: Chardonnay — easy-drinking, with crisp fall fruit, think toast spread with homemade apple butter

Category III: Merlot — Juicy & mouthwatering, think mid-summer plums and cherries with a hint of black tea

Category IV: Cabernet — Rich, fruity and herbaceous, like eating raspberry jam off a spring of thyme

Winning selections will be judged on how well it pairs with the varietal category that you select. Please note: Julie does not like or eat peas for any reason (including judging), therefore, it is advisable to not include peas in your entries!
