On New Year's Eve, G&M Distributors and its partners, Dennis Twitty State Farm Insurance, Checker Cab, WGIL, FM95, 92.7 The LASER, and 105.3 KFM sponsored Alert Cab, a community-based initiative that helps prevent drunk driving by providing free cab rides home to adults who may have had too much to drink.
On Saturday, December 31, 139 Galesburg area residents supported the Alert Cab program and received a safe, free cab ride home.
"G & M is thankful for the support from its program partners and Galesburg's bars and restaurants that participated in this year's event," said Adam Vitale, General Manager of G&M Distributors."
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drunk-driving fatalities have declined 44 percent since 1982. Here in Illinois, drunk-driving fatalities have declined 60 percent since 1982.
